The Po-tree: a Real-time Spatiotemporal Data Indexing Structure
نویسندگان
چکیده
This document describes the Po-tree, a new indexing structure for spatiotemporal databases with real-time constraints. Natural risks management and other system can use arrays of spatially referenced sensors. Each on them sending their measurements to a central database. Our solution tries to facilitate the indexing of these data, while favoring the newer ones. It does so by combining two sub-structures for the spatial and temporal components. While Mobility is not yet supported, evolutions of the structures shall be able to deal with it.

Real-Time Spatiotemporal Data Indexing Structure
This document describes the Po-tree, a new indexing structure for spatiotemporal databases with soft real time constraints. This is crucial for risk management, particularly for the monitoring of volcanic risk. For example, the Popocatepetl, a Mexican volcano, is closely monitored through an network of spatially referenced sensors. They all send back their measurements to a central spatiotempor...
متن کاملSoft Real-Time GIS for Disaster Monitoring
The goal of this paper is to underline the importance of real-time systems for managing information during the phase of disaster monitoring. We stress the importance of soft real-time GIS, and we present a list of barriers to overcome in order to get this kind of system. Among the barriers, we present a solution for real-time indexing of spatiotemporal data based on a data structure named PO-Tree.
متن کاملEfficient Processing of Spatiotemporal Queries in Temporal Geographical Information Systems
It’s a well-known fact that new GIS applications need to keep track of temporal information. However, the most widely used spatial index, the R-Tree and its variants, do not preserve the evolution of bounding boxes. Some new indexing structures were proposed in the literature that allows the retrieving of present and past states of data. In this paper we evaluate the most popular indexes struct...
متن کاملIndexing Objects Moving on Fixed Networks
The development of a spatiotemporal access method suitable for objects moving on fixed networks is a very attractive challenge due to the great number of real-world spatiotemporal database applications and fleet management systems dealing with this type of objects. In this work, a new indexing technique, named Fixed Network R-Tree (FNR-Tree), is proposed for objects constrained to move on fixed...
متن کاملProcessamento Eficiente de Junções Espaçotemporais
It's a well-known fact that the new GIS applications need to keep track of temporal information. Among other operations, a spatiotemporal DBMS should efficiently answer the spatiotemporal join. The best-known spatial index structure, the R-Tree (and its variants), does not preserve the MBRs’ evolution. New indexing structures were proposed in the literature that allows the retrieving of present...
